Pet of the Week
“One person’s trash is another’s treasure.” In June this year, three carriers containing a total of 10 cats were abandoned in the shelter parking lot. Where they came from and what took place to bring them to us, we don’t know. The “Treasures”, as we call them, are learning to trust us. Some of them quickly recognized human contact while others weren’t sure of our role. Time, patience and unconditional TLC is what they needed and continue to receive. There were seven adult females and two adult males and one newborn who sadly didn’t make it. “Time heals all wounds” and the proof is with the Treasures. What a delightful group of cats! We have been learning about the cats’ personalities and finding out what would be the best home environment for each one. Sapphire’s approximate date of birth is July 2008. She is a small lady who enjoys the company of other cats. She was one of the ones who took a while to trust staff and would do well in a quiet home. She had no objection to posing for the camera while we took many pictures, because she wants you to see that the unusual pattern of scattered white hairs amid  all the black makes her sparkle like the gem she is.

Sapphire is spayed and is up-to-date with routine vaccinations.
