Meet Our Adoptable Cats & Kittens & Learn How to Adopt

At the Gananoque & District Humane Society, we care for abandoned, surrendered, and stray cats while they wait for their forever homes. All of our adoptable cats receive veterinary care before joining their new families, including spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, core vaccinations, deworming, and flea treatment.

Applications are processed in the order received. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee adoption, as we work to find the best match for each cat and family.

Approved Application
  • GDHS will typically contact you within 3-5 business days to schedule a visit to the shelter. This visit allows us to get to know you and help find the best possible match. If it’s a good fit, you may have the opportunity to complete the adoption and bring your new cat home the same day. If a match is not found, your approved application will remain on file for three months.

Denied Application
  • If your application is not approved, it does not reflect your ability as a pet owner.  The Gananoque & District Humane Society reserves the right to decline any application and is not obligated to provide a reason.
