A new Animals in War pin has been unveiled this year featuring an animal that quietly served alongside war veterans, playing its own unique role in wartime.
These pins are a reminder of all the animals who have served, and continue to serve, alongside Canada’s veterans. The Animals in War pin is intended to be worn as a complement to the poppy in remembrance of our veterans and the animals who bravely served by their side. When you purchase an Animals in War pin, you will be supporting GDHS as well as Gananoque Legion. |

Ting from Panache Bakery Cafe gave GDHS a cheque for $1,000, money raised from the October Macaron Fundraiser. Half of Macaron sales were donated to GDHS.
Thank you for another successful October fundraiser! From October 1 to October 31, Panache Bakery & Cafe sold XL Ginger Cat Macarons for $5 each and half of the sales were being donated to GDHS. The macaroons were gluten free with a white chocolate ganache filling. Thank you so much Panache Bakery & Cafe for your support! We are so excited to be partnering with this local small business. By purchasing a Ginger Cat Macaroon, clients were both supporting GDHS and Panache Bakery & Cafe! |

WOW!!! Puppy Prowl 2021 was a success, even with the rain.
This year, GDHS invited a few vendors ( R&L Designs , Liv With Paws , #GabeandAndrewsrawhoney and a GDHS table), bagpiper (James Gendron) and our local Poet Laureate (Gretchen Huntley). Gretchen was kind enough to donate her poem to GDHS and @oconnorgallery has offered to frame it for us. All participants received a loot bag as a thank you from GDHS. Thank you Pet Valu for providing us bags to hand out @pistachio Cafe handed out vouchers. Anyone who mentioned Puppy Prowl, Pistachio Cafe would donate $1 to us! We also had a photographer on-site that offered to donate her time and money by taking professional photos of pets and people. Thank you so much Sandra at Eden Grove Photography. She did an amazing job navigating the weather to make sure everyone got the perfect photo. Another photographer also joined us to help with publicity. Brianna from Fox Photography provided the pictures you see with this post! A prize draw was held as well! Beggar's Banquet Books and East Coast Lifestyle donated fantastic prizes as well as generous community members. A big shout out to all our walkers who braved the weather and joined us. Our top fundraiser was Tina Gladu, who raised $1,200. At the end of the day, GDHS raised just over $3,100. We could not have done this without all involved, especially GDHS fundraising volunteer, Helen, who worked tirelessly to make this happen. Going forward, we would like to build on the walk and add more vendors and entertainment. We will be sharing more information well in advance of the walk. We look forward to seeing you all again next year! |

For the month of March, we partnered with the Hot Roast Company for our "What's Up, Cupcake?" fundraiser. They make delicious cakes and cupcakes (among other things). Half of the proceeds went to GDHS. The Hot Roast Company is located at the corner of King and Charles St, in Gananoque.
We sold 400 boxes of 6 cupcakes! That's $2400!!! A few people donated extra money and a lovely couple in Montreal donated $25 so with that our total is $2,471.50. Hot Roast Company bumped that the total up to an even $2500! Thank you everyone who purchased the cupcakes. We couldn't be happier! Thank you to the Hot Roast Company for supporting us! |
